A Day in Salzburg | Photo Diary

Munich is so close to the Austrian boarder so we couldn't resist jumping on the rather expensive train to Salzburg at the end of our trip.

For once I didn't do any planning or preparation at all and it was absolutely fantastic! We exited the train station, located a map and promptly began walking in the opposite direction to where we were supposed to be going! We thankfully realised as it began to look less touristy and soon we were heading in the right direction and into the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city.

We winded our way through the streets, heading for the castle perched high on the hill top. There are loads of traditional looking trams and most of the shops have intricately designed signs on the sides of the buildings such as the McDonald's above. And, have you ever seen such a fancy looking Spar?

When we arrived in the square below the castle there was lots going on with paddling pools, open bars, music and entertainment!

The Castle is well worth the hot walk up the hill and the 8 Euro entrance fee (or 7.10 Euro with a student card). You get to explore jail cells, towers and a tour is included in the entrance price. The restaurant also has mesmerising views over the city and the Alps without being over priced...

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the station after an amazing day in Salzburg. I would definitely go back to explore more!

Do any of you guys fancy a trip to Salzburg now?
