The 9/11 memorial surprised me in a few ways. Firstly I found it really moving. When you look at where the buildings used to stand and the huge number of names engraved it does bring up some emotions I didn't think I would feel. The park is really beautiful and on the whole people were very respectful.
One World Trade also feels like a big statement from the US - they just get back up and continue, never forgetting but not letting anything stop them which I feel is really important.
There is also a 360 degree observatory at the top of One World Trade where standard tickets are $32 with a totally different view than the likes of the Empire State or Rockefeller.
I'm so glad we were able to go and I would urge anyone visiting to make the trip Downtown.
