Snow in Staveley

So last weekend was a busy but super fun one! My family Drove down to kendal to stay in a sweet family run hotel for my uncle's birthday. All his kids were up too so it was a great little family reunion. The Friday hight was spent catching up and lots of laughs over the previous times we had stayed at the hotel.

On Saturday it was time for a lengthy walk. My uncle loves fell walking and as a recent convert I was very much up for it too. We began in the village of Staveley Bridge by purchasing a little lunch in the More? Artisan Bakery and the local butchers before heading north out of the village. We followed a path up through a forest and didn't pass up the chance for a go on the rope swing ;)

We then went East towards a farm and stopped for a picnic lunch in the shelter of the nearby dam. Then it was a simple follow of the river down the hill and back into the village along the Dales Way
It was my perfect kind of walk really - around 10km with a lot of variety from forest to the views and of course the riverside.

I can't wait to show you the bakery in Staveley too!

Eylure Natural Lashes

I normally just wear eyelashes for special occasions but I love the different looks you can achieve with them so I decided it was about time I got myself a couple of natural pairs that I could wear on a more everyday basis. I went for this Naturals pair in No. 020 and the slightly more dramatic but still natural Cheryl lashes in No. 114. They were both £5 in Sainsbury's which I think is great for pretty lashes which stay stuck alll night (or day).

I had such a lovely weekend away in the Lakes for my uncle's birthday and at my friend Katie's hen party then I had an interview on Monday and back to work yesterday so it's been pretty hectic the last few days! Rob and I are going to see Spectre today though so that'll be nice and then I'll get some blogging done tonight.

Which other lashes do you guys think I need in my life?

The Basic Nude

I am really loving a good nude lip night now. It's pretty and goes with everything. For my everyday go to nude I reach for the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 03 or Maybelline in Velvet Beige - they are both great drugstore options. I also purchased a few products recently to create an ombre nude which I think is perfect for dressing up a little more

I paired this look with my Jack Wills Jagger jeans, a cosy Topshop jumper and classic black ankle boots from Primark - my Autumn go to look.

I'll show you that nude ombre lip look soon too.

Teriyaki Salmon

I've mentioned a few times my lack of cooking skills but I'm starting to get a little better, I think anyway! Rob says it like this: he 'wings it' and it always seems to work, where as when I 'wing it', disaster strikes.

For this teriyaki salmon all I did was marinade it for a little more than 15 minutes pop it in the oven and serve it with crushed baby potatoes and a dressed salad.

Easy and yummy!

Christmas at Paperchase

Okay so I have a little confession to make... Yesterday I may have just written all my Christmas cards!

I know, I know it is absolutely crazy and we are still very much in November but when I saw them all sitting there in Paperchase looking all lovely and Christmassy I couldn't resit. Then when I got home I was so excited I wrote a list of all the people I was going to send them too (not actually that many) and then some how my Sharpie just fell onto the Christmas cards. By the end of the evening I had written every single one. Ooops.

I thoroughly enjoyed it though and it felt good to be organised and productive. I just love the cards too. Paperchase had so many cute ones to choose from and a great selection of charity ones too. Most of them were 3 for 2 and the slightly larger ones were priced at £3.50 and the smaller ones £3.

Where might you get your Christmas cards from this year? I don't normally even write them but there is something about a physical hand written note that is just so special. Brings warmth to the heart, hah.

Feels like Scandinavia

Yesterday we took Marmite up to Whinlatter forest for a rather wet and muddy walk. It was SO beautiful though. It felt all Christmassy and the mist was lying low on the fells. Marmite absolutely loved running around to her hearts content and we didn't see anyone else the whole time. We popped into the puppy friendly and cosy Coledale Inn in Braithwaite on the way back for a little treat too.

Also that second last picture where Marmite is getting out the puddle was the most crystal clear puddle I have ever seen in my life. Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture before she took the plunge but you could see every detail in the all the greenery below - incredible.

H&M x Balmain Sneak Peek

Yesterday was a very exciting day! After pretty much waiting all day by the front door for the Hermes delivery man to arrive, at around half 2 the doorbell finally went and with it a HUGE H&M box.

I went for the embellished silk shirt, the green suede and leather bag and the green and black faux fur coat as I wanted things that I know I could get a lot of wear out of. First impressions were great. Everything was packaged well with beautiful high quality branded labels and the shirt was really heavy. I read a little online before the collection release that you should size up because things were pretty small but I'm glad I didn't because both pieces fit really well.

I'm definitely going to keep the shirt and the bag, both feel amazing and look amazing on. I'm just not sure I will get the wear out of the fur coat this winter that will justify the expense. It is a truly beautiful coat though and feels so cosy and soft on. I'll have to deliberate for a few days over this one.

I'll show you some outfit pictures when I get the chance to wear these #HMBalmaination beauties and until then I shall admire them from within my wardrobe. What did you guys think of the collection? Did you manage to get anything?

Winter Uniform

Jeans - Jack Wills
Scarf - Primark (similar)
Boots - Primark (similar)
Coat - Fat Face (similar)

Here are the outfit pictures Rob took the other day when we were at Golden Acre Park. It was so so pretty and Autumny and the perfect place to show you my winter uniform. These Jack Wills jeans are ridiculously comfy and flattering and go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe and I love to throw on this huge scarf I got from Primark last year to keep me warm and cosy.

The coat is a great in between for these rather mild Autumn days as it's quite thin (read: perfect for layering) but the fur keeps is cosy and you just can't go wrong with a simple pair of black flat ankle boots.

What are your winter staples?

Superfood Salad

A while back Rob, my mom and I went to look around the new Lakes Distillery and couldn't resist a little lunch too. It's pretty close to Dodd Wood in the Northern Lakes so after taking Marmite for a walk there recently we decided to head back.

It is quite expensive but the menu is really interesting and the food is delicious. To top it off both times the service has been fantastic too. I went for the superfood salad this time as I wasn't sure what I felt like and it was a good decision. Very tasty and pretty filling too. I love a good creme brulee too so I couldn't resist it to follow my healthy main ;)

All the Leaves are Brown

So I'm doing this thing now where I don't allow myself to write any blog posts at all until I have applied for a job each day. This seems to be working really well for me because when I do start applying for jobs you kind of get in the zone and before I know it I've been applying for a couple of hours (which btw always surprises me how long it takes for each application!)

Here are some pictures from a walk me and Rob did when I was down in Leeds this week. The last few weeks it has been super foggy in the Wharfe Valley so we went for a walk in Golden Acre Park. We parked at the top this time so it was a very different walk across woodland surrounded fields and forests making it very spooky but exciting in the fog.

Rob took some outfit pictures while we were there so I'll show you those soon and you can see my previous posts on Golden Acre here and this super old one here.

Big loves,
