Slush in Glenshee

So it did not stop raining ALL night making the next day a very soggy one. We decided to have a leisurely breakfast and then drive up to the ski resort at Glenshee to see the slushy snow.

It was very overcast so there wasn't all that much to see and nothing  open either. It was still fun to imagine how it would have been on a blue sky day covered in snow with lots of people about. Maybe next time, hey?

We didn't hang around for too long because the weather was just crazy so the cosy town of Pitlochry started calling!

Walking in the Scottish Highlands

After waking up with just a smattering of snow but a clear day we decided to take a walk along the road up the hill from Ecocamp towards Drumore Loch. We then took a track up the otherside of the Loch into the forest all the way to the top, revealing stunning views over the Highlands.

There was a hairy moment when we had to walk through and a sparsely fenced field full of Highland Cattle with our excitable puppy but we made it safetly to lower ground.

We took some slightly incorrect turnings on the way down and ended up having to do a little off roading and fence clambering much to my mother's dismay but we all found it hilarious! We eventually made it back to Blacklunans thanks to Geographer Rob over here where it promptly started to pour with rain.

A hot chocolate (with marshmellows and a couple of slices of chocolate orange) was the best way to warm up while the rain got steadily worse and we started to make wet weather plans for the following day.

Monster Yurt

So New Years Eve. I know it was a while ago but it's all Wintery here in the North of England so I figured it would be nice to share these pictures with you guys. Myself, Rob, my mom, Sarah, her boyfriend Joe and Marmite all headed up to Glenshee for a few nights to bring in 2016.

It started off really well. We booked to stay in the Monster Yurt at Ecocamp Glenshee for a few nights. It is sort of like a basic and environmentally friendly glamping site just a short drive from the snowy slopes of the Glenshee Ski Centre. Even though the weather was terrible (more about that later) is was super cute and cosy with all the good things about camping with less wet and a little more warmth.

So the Monster Yurt sleeps 10 (perfect for us 6) so it was snuggely but not too cramped and decorated in a Turkish theme with a mix match of rugs on the floor, bunting and so many candles. There is also a wood burning stove to provide the yurt with warmth and an oven and hob for cooking and making marshmellowy hot chocolates.

The first night which was NYE we had a roast pork made in the wood burning stove, drank plenty of Prosecco and played games. We settled down for a cosy nights sleep, waking up to a smattering of snow. Yey! Although no where near enough to ski which was the main reason why went up there in the first place.

Because of the lack of snow we had a lazy morning cooking breaky together before stepping outside for such a beautiful wintery walk.

Bam! No sooner are we getting into the awards season swing of things with the People's Choice Awards than we are hit with red carpet wonder in the form of the Golden Globe Awards. Celebrating the best in American film and television the 73rd Golden Globe Awards took place in the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, California. All of the industries biggest names showed their pretty faces on the red carpet and let me tell you there were so many really lovely outfit choices. I was particularly impressed at the effort of the males.

I think my best dressed had to be either Melissa Benoist of Emilia Clarke (you know me, I can never just picked one) and David Oyelowo for the men. I love a creative take on the classic suit.

As always, let me know you favourite too! And check out the likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kaley Cuoco and Selena Gomez bossing life at the InStyle after party.
