Lunch at Quay Four

Yesterday morning I went to get my nails done at a chain here in South Africa called Sorbet. I went for the stiletto shape with a light pink not something I would normally go for but its perfect in the sunshine. I'm sure you'll see them soon.

Nails freshly painted mom and I went decided to go to the District Six Museum in the centre of Cape Town as neither of us had ever been. It was small but only R30 and shared many of the locals shocking experiences of living in the area (or not living and being thrown out because of the colour of their skin) and the segregation of different people.  It is definitely worth a visit and very humbling. I struggle to comprehend that people were given different jobs simply because of the colour of their skin! It is just so wrong.

The traffic in Cape Town is getting worse too so to avoid rush hour we popped along to the V&A waterfront for drinks and salad at Quay Four. It has the most incredible seafood and it situated right on the harbour.

We are just about to head out to some friends for a supper of fish and chips freshly caught several miles off the tip of Cape Point just yesterday!

Kalk Bay, Cape Town

St James' Beach

St James' is that picture perfect, white sandy, colourful beach hut kinda spot. Walking distance from Kalk Bay is was the perfect way to rest after our brunch at The Annex. Best visited during the week (I would avoid all together at a weekend) the sand is white and there is a tidal pool filled with little fish. Behind you is the railway line so keep an eye out for the trains precariously close to the edge and people hanging out the windows. To top it off the view of the mountains on the other side of the bay is spectacular.

Kalk Bay, Cape Town

The Annex for Brunch

After a relaxing first day in the African sun it was time to head a little further out of the city in search of brunch. We arrived in Kalk Bay quickly as the main road repairs have finally moved on and The Annex was calling. The view is incredible! Sitting outside, looking over the harbour, I ordered an iced coffee (blended, my fave) and a french-toasted croissant. So much yum. The food in Cape Town is so lush.

Tuesday, 23 February 2016 Bergvliet, Cape Town

The Backyard Cafe

What an amazing first day back in Cape Town. Our morning started with breaky and sunbathing in the garden then we popped down to Bergvliet to the very beautiful Backyard Cafe. Originally the home of the owner of the wood restoration store opposite, it now acts as an over flow for an eclectic mix of furniture and home furnishing. Left in exactly the same layout it perfectly shows inspiration for each piece of furniture. Then nestled in the leafy back garden is a cafe serving homemade cakes, fresh salads and super healthy juices.

It is such a lush place for a spot of lunch!

Manchester, United Kingdom

Take Off ✈

We have arrived in sunny Cape Town! The flight left Manchester at 5am yesterday so we spent the night at the airport Hilton having supper again at Mason's. The flight went via Amsterdam and arrived soon after 10pm last night. I normally prefer a night flight as you can just see but it was incredible seeing the sunrise and sunset. Ooo and flying over the Sahara desert was just amazing. This morning we picked up our car and now I am going to get my skin in that South African skin.

Speak soon.

The 58th Annual Grammy's were held in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles and hosted by LL Cool J. There were some incredible performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato. My favourite of the night was Selena Gomez who gave us the stunning navy red carpet gown followed by a red number to present.
